Introduction:There are two behaviors that God looks out for in the prayer life of believers. These attitudes are desperation and faith. There are several instances in the bible where God stopped to listen to the desperate complaints of individuals and groups and through their faith, stepped into their situations. We will consider the cases of The Blind Bartimaeus, Hannah, Jacob, Zacchaeus, etc. however, it is pertinent to understand what it is to be desperate and also to have faith.

Desperation: Extreme seriousness
·         Faith: Complete trust and confidence
A desperate cry attracts the attention of God; And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. Mark 10:47 and Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. Mark 10:49.
A stubborn faith makes God act in a situation. Mark 10: 50-52 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.
And Jesus answered and said unto him, what wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Case Studies of People Who Cried Desperately to God

Blind Bartimaeus was a helpless blind man, son of Timaeus that lived the major part of his life begging for alms and waiting for healing which come rarely and periodically Mark 10:46
He heard that Jesus the messiah was coming towards him and cried desperately for help, Jesus stood still when He heard the his desperate cry.

But Jesus seeing Bartimaeus physically blind still asked him what he want him do for him; why? This is where the second attitude that God look out for a believer in place of prayer comes to fore. God knowing fully well what we want from Him even before we asked wants us to exercise faith and be specific. Mark 10:51.

Hannah:
Hannah is one of two wives of Elkanah; the other, Peninnah, bore children to Elkanah, but Hannah remained childless. Nevertheless, Elkanah preferred Hannah. Every year Elkanah would offer a sacrifice at the Shiloh sanctuary, and give Penninah and her children a portion but he gave Hannah a double portion "because he loved her, and the Lord had closed her womb. One day Hannah went up to the temple, and prayed with great weeping. I Samuel 1:10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord, and wept sore.

Lessons from Hannah
·         She cried desperately for fruit of the womb that Elli the priest thought she was drunk.             1 Sam. 1:14
·         She made a vow unto God  1Sam. 1:11
·         She defended her faith in God even in the face her ordeal 1Sam. 1:15
·         God halted at her desperate cry for help and saw her faith and gave her a seed child,
Samuel. 1 Sam. 1:17.

Jacob:
Jacob was the grandson of Abraham and the son of Isaac. He was a schemer, liar, and manipulator. He labored for years, schemed, lied and manipulated to achieve everything he wanted in life, note that this is spirit of delay of destiny. Gen. 29:18 Since Jacob was in love with Rachel, he told her father, "I'll work for you for seven years if you'll give me Rachel, your younger daughter, as my wife.

He cried unto God desperately for change. Gen. 32:26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

Prayer Points
1. Every power troubling my peace, your time is up, oh God arise, trouble my troubles.
2. Oh God, arise on my behalf, all evil powers following me from my father’s or mother’s           house, afflict them in Jesus name.
3. Every rag of wretchedness, attracting shame and disgrace into my life and destiny, catch     fire in Jesus name.
