FATHERHOOD

A presentation on Fatherhood made by 16 years old, SS2 Student Son of Mr. and Mrs Cassidy amechi (Master Destiny Amechi) on The Fathers Day Celebration held on Sunday, 19 June 2016 at Breach Repairers Assembly, Lagos.
 FATHERHOOD

According to thee Oxford Advanced English Dictionary, fatherhood is a state of being a father. From the beginning of the Garden of Eden, God designed man to be in full control. Man was created for dominion. God said; let us make man in our own image, according to our likeness. Let them rule and have dominion over all the earth.

A man is a father when he has offspring biologically or adopted. Recently in the United States of America, sociologist, researchers and psychologists published a report with quantifiable statistical data of their studies to convince society that father have a crucially important role to play in the lives of families and in forging a just and human social order.

Fatherhood indicates a fundamental, relationship whose reality is as ancient as man’s history. In an African context, we have come to a point of affirmation that fatherhood is perceived slightly different from what is obtained in the western world.

ROLES OF FATHERS
The role of a father in an ideal family cannot be over emphasized.
Fathers influence, guide, counsel as well as nurture their children.
Fathers provide direction on career and life path.
Fathers provide vision; a template on which we must abide in order to attain our personal objectives.
Fathers act as emotional pillars
Fathers are the main providers, breadwinners and welfare-related sources.

Now biblically, Jewish history reveals that the father was to be diligent in instructing his children in the ways of the Lord and their own spiritual development and well being. This brings us to the reading and understanding of Proverbs 27:6 and also that of the adage “Spare The Rod and Spoil The Child”

In conclusion, fatherhood is an asset that is considered worthy enough for the appreciation of our Heavenly Father. Because;

Just like Abraham, they stand for us
Imitating Moses, they lead us
Emulating Gideon, they intercede for us
Fathers are a joy from the time of old
They are the leading mantle in the fold
Their light shines like the diamond yet to be sold
We praise our fathers; celebrate these men on this day
When they are extremely special and deeply appreciated.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!
