Badge of Honour Defined
Badge of honour can be defined as
the injuries, hurts and pains, disappointments, denials and sacrifices that we
believers encounter or bear for God, which may not be motivated by what we
stand to gain but out of our faith in Him. In Heb. 11:13 & 39-40, our
attentions were drawn to characters who paid their dues in serving God without
really doing it for rewards but were rewarded at last.
The honest truth is that God is not
going to show up for us until that level of sacrifice is achieved by us.
Let us look at examples of
characters that in their own ways bore their badges of honours in their walks
with God:
1. Shedrach,
Meshach and Abednego. Daniel 3:16-26.
We are all familiar with the stories of the three
Israelis who were taken captive in Babylon during the reign of King
Nebuchadnezzar. Their badge of honour was shown when they consented to facing
death in blazing furnace in refusal to bowing to the gods of the Babylonians.
The question is in the face of death, will you deny God?
2. Daniel.
Daniel 6:1-28.
In this study, Daniel is another example that readily
comes to mind. With all the royal privileges, he bore his badge of honour by
refusing the King's decree that no other god's should be worshiped except the
god of the Babylonians.
3. Paul
also read out his badge of honours in 2 Corinthians 23-33.
4. In
Hebrew 11:8-39, we saw examples of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph etc.
The only way to attain perfection
in our walk with God is to be ready to bear our badge of honour and also be
conscious of the fact that our reward is not only of the temporal and physical
things that we see but more of eternity. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18.
Process of Attaining Perfection
In Christ
1. Injury
2. Healing
3. Wonder
4. Followership
5. Worship
6. Witnessing/Testimony
How You Should Bear Your Badge
of Honour
1. Stay
put in the pain and go through it.
2. Open
the wound, don't complain, rather cry or pray to God if you need to.
3. Know
that you will overcome.
In conclusion; Isaiah 30:26. god
says He will fix it, so wait
